Mid Summer Night Dream A Mid Summer Nights Dream True love never runs a smooth coarse. And this is quit evident in a Mid Summer Nights dream. The young love of two people is far more powerful than one thinks. And at the end true love will prevail no matter what gets in the way. Hermia and Lysander are the two lovers where nothing goes their way. Their love is so strong that nothing shall get in the way of true love. Hermia is faced with a decision to marry Demetrius, the man she doesnt love, or be faced with death. The father of Hermia is the one setting up the marriage between the two. There love is so strong that they will let nothing stop them, so they run away together into the woods. This truly is a sign of true love. And that the coarse of true love never did run smooth. These two young lovers are willing to risk everything for love. The we have Helena, the sort of crazy girl will stop at nothing to win the heart of Demetrius. Even if it means hurting the others around her. The only problem is that Demetrius is supposed to marry Hermia. And this starts the endless struggle of love. So off into the woods Lysander and Hermia, but Helena tricks Demetrius into going to the woods to hoping he would see Hermia and Lysander together, then Demetrius would wan t Helena. The only thing that Helena didnt know that it would make him mad when he saw them together. Now if there hasnt been enough trouble among the young lovers; Oberon the fairy king decides to do something about the trouble. The only problem is that appoints his sidekick, if you call him, Puck to help out. Now Oberon knows the trouble between the young lovers so he calls on Puck to retrieve this love poison. And when that poison is put into the eyes of someone, they will fall in love with the first person they see when they awake. So this even makes everything else more complicated. Puck messes up and puts the poison in the wrong eyes. He was suppose to put it in the eyes of Demetrius, but he puts it in the eyes of Lysander. And guess what happens, Helena is the first person Lysander sees. So now everything is crazy. Lysander has already given his love to Hermia, but now he tells her he hates her. This proves even more that the coarse of true love does not run smooth. Obviously nothing has run smooth for Hermia and Lysander. Who wish nothing more than to show there true love for each other. So now at the end, all is well. Helena gets Demetrius, and Hermia and Lysander are permitted to get married. Even through the worst of conditions or consequences true love will prevail. Van Eyck - Arnolfini and His Bride essays Giovanni Arnolfini and His Bride is a piece that has a great deal of symbolism along with legal function. Done in 1434, it was done with oil on wood and is actually only 2'8" by 1'11". The piece was a wedding portait and displays Van Eycks love of detail. Details such as hair had to be done with a single hair brush. First this work shows Arnolfini's wealth, being a silk merchant. He wears a fur coat, appearing in a room of extravigant furnishings. Also he dawns a very large hat which was symbolic of wealth at the time. His hand position is important, swearing an oath of loyalty and fidelity. This begins the functioning of a legal document. That is in this case for marriage. The placing of hands was done and then sworn in front of a noted republic. In the mirror one can see two other people,one the noted republic(in red), and Van Eyck(in blue) as a witness. He wrote; "Van Eyck was here" and dated the event. His bride is an example of what the ideal bride should be. Aristocratic women wore white headress and hair in horns. Women would pluck their forehead back one to two inches as another expression of prestige. The green dress is associated with fertility and her form shows future pregnancy. It was probably an arranged marriage and is important to show the premenition of child birth. Due to the fact that children were important to the relationship. She looks down to show she is respectful and submissive. She is positioned by a wisk broom to show her future position at home and cleaning. Arnolfini is postioned by an open window to show how he will go out into the world and do business. The chandelear has one lit candle that they will blow out after they consumate their marriage. In the background a statue of St. Margret is on the bed post. She is the patron saint of child birth and is yet another example of fertility. The simulation helped me to understand possible barrier to communication in a change process because diversified personnel in a change process are likely to have different approaches to communication. A good example is cross-cultural communication difference between people from western culture and people from other cultures. While people with western cultural orientation prefer a direct approach to communication that is shallow and precise, other cultures apply indirect communication that is explorative and ensures detailed explanation of points in communication. This difference is significant to change management because of possible conflict among members of different cultures. Members of the western culture may perceive time wastage in other cultures’ explorative approach to communication while people from the other cultures may fail to understand concepts from the western culture’s precise approach to communication. Another essential to the concept of diversity in communication is people’s accent that is greatly affected by culture and people’s environments. Differences in accent have direct impacts on meaning of words and phrases across cultures and may lead to misunderstanding of motives, objectives, and visions in a change process. Two reasons accounts for this. A recipient in a communication process may confuse words and end up with a different meaning or the recipient may completely fail to understand conveyed meaning for necessary action or reaction. Definitions of Leadership Bass (1981) accepted the view of leadership as an interaction between members of a group. Leaders are agents of change, persons whose acts affect other people more than other people’s acts affect them. Kanter (1983) defined leadership as the existence of people with power to mobilize others and to set constraints. Misumi (1985) wrote: Leadership is understood as the role behaviour of a specific group member, who, more than other members, exerts some kind of outstanding, lasting, and positive influence on fulfilling the group’s functions of problem solving or goal achievement and group maintenance. Weiss (1986) pinpointed the concept of leadership as the top level executive and his dominant coalition of the organization which is invested with the power, status, and resources to manipulate, interpret, and negotiate constraints and resources into policy. Kellerman (1984) defined leadership as the process by which one individual consistently exerts more impact than others on the nature and direction of group activity. Gardner (1986) waffled at the end of his definition by attaching the last phrase: leadership is the process of persuasion and example by which an individual induces a group to take action that is in accord with the leader’s purposes. Sergiovanni (1989), an influential leadership scholar in education, defined leadership as the process of persuasion by which a leader induce followers to act in a manner that enhances the leaders purposes or shared purposes. Two more recent books on leadership have been based on military leaders, and they promote the same understanding of leadership. Roberts (1989) considered leadership as the thing that wins the battles. Bailey (1988) an anthropologist, defined leadership as the act of controlling followers. Finally, Schatz (1986) summed up much of what this view of leadership represents: â€Å"Leadership is the total effect you have on people and events around you.† Leadership for Rost (1991) is an influence relationship among leaders and  followers who intend real changes that reflect their mutual purposes. A leader does the right things (Bennis and Goldsmith, 1997). Doing the right things implies a goal, a direction, an objective, a vision, a dream, a path, a reach. Leading is about effectiveness. It is about what and why. It is about trust – about people. Bennis and Goldsmith (1997), defined leadership as innovating and initiating. It looks at the horizon, not just the bottom line. Leaders base their vision, their appeal to others, and their integrity on reality, on the facts, on a careful estimate of the forces at play, and on the trends and contradictions. For Drucker (1996), leaders move people from selfish concerns to serving the common good. Leaders can refocus people’s energy with direct interventions or do so indirectly by adjusting the system so that people naturally gravitate toward what needs to be done. It will be hypothesized that the Indang II District elementary school principals’ leadership styles (Block 2) will affect school effectiveness (Block 3) at Indang II District, Division of Cavite. The mediating variables will be the elementary school principals’ leadership styles consisting of seven dimensions, namely: a) idealized influence; b) inspirational motivation; c) intellectual stimulation; d) individualized consideration; e) contingent reward; f) management by exception; and g) Laissez-faire. The aforementioned dimensions will be discussed in the conceptual framework. The five indicators of school effectiveness will be the output variables. Each variable will be explained thoroughly as part of the related literature of this study on school effectiveness. The line connecting the mediating and the output variables show their relationship. This will imply that the Indang II school principals’ leadership styles affect the effectiveness of the Indang II schoo ls at Indang II District, Division of Cavite. HYPOTHESIS On the basis of the questions that will be proposed in this study, this hypothesis will be tested. There is no significant relationship between the principals’ leadership styles and school effectiveness in the elementary schools in Indang II District, Division of Cavite.

It follows the time of a boy, Brian Robson, who crash lands in the middle of a Canadian forest. I think Brian would have though of his time in the forest as fulfilling. Maybe not in the middle of the story, but afterwards, he would of thought of it as a very good experience. From only pages of the book, Brian starts to learn. When the pilot offers him a quick ‘lesson’ of flying the Cessna plane, this saves his life when the pilot dies a horrific heat attack in his seat. This causes Brian to panic, but he safely crash lands inside a lake. Then soon after, he starts to learn that just some insects are coming wanting his flesh. He never thought they were that bad until they cause him to swell all over The only stuff Brian had seen about the wild was on nature films â€Å"They only showed animals jumping around in the bushes and the rolling mountains†. It said in the novel. Brian had only lived in the city, where he is hidden away from the wilderness. He had never been into a forest before. So he was living by what he knew, which was very little. When he goes looking for berries, he is confronted by a big bear. He had seen one before in a zoo, and thought that they would be something to stay away from in the wild. He thinks he is done for, and thinks he will be attacked. But the bear leaves him alone, leaving him with the thought that they only attack you if you attack them. He learns things that are not just relevant to wilderness survival but also about life. These include patience, appreciation for the natural world and observation. He learns to control his temper when he discovers frustration and hopelessness does nothing. He also learns by trial and error, like hunting or building his shelter. For example, his first shelter doesn’t work, so he spends more time on building the second. If a method fails to accomplish the job, Brian learns from his mistakes instead of dwelling on them. Brian also notices the beauty of nature and its sights and sounds. Living in the city has dulled his senses. He uses his new senses to survive, like when at first he couldn’t locate the foolbirds he tries to hunt, they pop out of nowhere surprising him with their presence.
